Deadline – OAC Culturally Diverse Dance Training Program
The deadline for applications to the Ontario Arts Council’s Aboriginal & Culturally Diverse Dance Training Program is fast approaching (Sep 16). The program supports the development of culturally diverse dance that may derive from customary/traditional and contemporary dance genres, including but not limited to South Asian dance forms.
The program funds dance training schools that train and educate students considering a professional career in dance, as well as dance companies that carry out dance training classes to enhance professional dancers’ movement qualities and techniques.
“We’re supporting professional dance training that fits the artistic, cultural and demographic realities of Ontario”, said John Brotman, Executive Director at the Ontario Arts Council. “We have a history of supporting dance forms steeped in European traditions, and we are evolving that support in favour of excellence in dance training from all corners of the world.”
